Appraisals, Design Services and Remounts? We Do That!

Although the experts at Peter Suchy Jewelers have built a solid reputation for offering a sizable inventory of attractive vintage jewels, we are also the premier go-to specialists for appraisals, design services and stone remounts. Cases in point are two rings that we worked on just recently. Our clients brought in old rings that featured gorgeous gems. While the clients were not exactly in love with the old settings, they did adore the stones that they held.

Design Services and Stone Remounts

Over the course of the more than two decades that Peter Suchy has spent as a bench jeweler, it is fair to say that he has learned the fine art of jewelry design from the ground up. During this time, he also honed his ability to really hear what the client asks for. The proof is in the satisfaction that clients express time and again.
For these projects, we custom-made two platinum ring settings. One ring features an emerald-cut diamond weighing 1.51cts. We then integrated the two emerald-cut diamonds, also from the old setting, with a combined weight of 0.60cts to provide visual counterpoints. In addition, we added 54 full-cut diamonds with a total weight of 0.72cts, which bring sparkle to the triple halo design. We customized the ring to allow for the wear of a flush-fit band.
The second ring displays a fancy light-yellow, princess-cut diamond as the focal stone. It weighs in at 1.42cts. To enhance the yellow hue of the stone, we added an 18k yellow gold top. Two princess-cut diamonds with a combined weight of 0.81cts flank the center diamond. Along the setting, we added 56 full-cut diamonds with a collective weight of 0.46cts. When you compare the old designs to the new look of the rings, it is clear what a huge difference the right kind of setting can make for any center stone.

Appraisals of the Finished Products

Finally, we put Peter Suchy’s expertise, education and training with one of the area’s most respected gemologists to work by appraising these rings. In the course of the appraisal, we noted the GIA certificate numbers as well as the clarity and color of the stones. Doing so is instrumental in explaining our reasoning for the dollar figure we reach. It also provides the customer with a document that spells out the types of stones that are currently set in the rings, which makes the insurance process more accurate.
Whether you need assistance with the remounting of a stone or would like to have us design a setting around a gem, we can help. Moreover, we are always glad to appraise your jewelry.
